FINDING THE IPSWICH UNITARIAN MEETING HOUSE

By road from the south (A12): As you approach Ipswich you come to the Copdock Interchange, where the A12 intersects with the A14. You will see 'Toys R Us' ahead. At the interchange roundabout go straight ahead onto the A1214, following signs for Ipswich. You will come to another roundabout shortly afterwards and then some lights, but keep straight on. You will begin to descend a hill, at the bottom of which is a series of lights. Take the centre lane and keep straight ahead. You will come into Handford Road. Continue to a large roundabout then turn right on to the dual carriageway Civic Drive. You will soon come to another roundabout. Turn left on to Princes Street. You will have a large black glass building on your right. Take the first right on to Friars Street. After the black glass building, the Meeting House is on the right set back from the road. There is a blue notice board then the entrance to the Meeting House forecourt.

N.B. Parking at the Meeting House is limited. Immediately after the Meeting House entrance is the exit from a car park. For the entrance to this, take the next right on to St. Nicholas Street. The car park entrance is through an archway to your right. There is another car park (Cromwell Square) with an entrance a little further down St. Nicholas Street on the right.

By road from the west (A14): Leave the A14 at the first Ipswich exit. Follow signs into central Ipswich at the roundabout after the slip road. Keep on this road right into town, passing through several sets of lights and a double mini-roundabout on the way. You will come to the large St. Matthew's roundabout, where you turn right on to the dual carriageway Civic Drive. Go straight on at the next roundabout then turn left at the roundabout after that, on to Princes Street. You will have a large black glass building on your right. Take the first right on to Friars Street. After the black glass building, the Meeting House is on the right set back from the road. There is a blue notice board then the entrance to the Meeting House forecourt. (See the N.B. re. Parking above.

                       Alternatively keep on the A14 until you reach the Copdock Interchange (with the A12), then follow instructions as per 'By road from the south'.

By road from the east (A12): Leave the A12 at the Martlesham roundabout, turning right on to the A1214. Follow this through Kesgrave until you come to the large Heath Road roundabout on the edge of Ipswich. Go straight on following signs for the town centre. Keep on this road (Woodbridge Road) into town until the one-way system takes you left on to Argyle Street. At the lights, turn right on to St. Helen's Street. Carry straight on, through several sets of lights, skirting the town centre and passing Tower Ramparts bus station on your left and Crown Pools on your right. When you come to a roundabout (St. Matthew's Street), turn left on to the dual carriageway Civic Drive. Go straight on at the next roundabout, then turn left at the roundabout after that on to Princes Street. You will have a big black glass building on your right. Take the first right on to Friars Street. The Meeting House is set back from the road on the right. There is a blue notice board then the entrance to the Meeting House forecourt. (See the N.B. re.
